Description

The Behavioral Health Administration's 5th Annual Peer Summit

Description- The 5th Annual Peer Summit will be May 15 & 16, 2019 at the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel, 903 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson, Maryland, 21204.

Who- This event is strictly for Peer Recovery Specialists who are working toward the CPRS credential or CPRSs who require training hours toward recertification.

Date and Times of Conference- The conference check in begins Wednesday, May 15, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, with welcoming remarks beginning at 9:00 AM, and the day’s events ending at 4:30 PM. On the second day of the conference, Thursday, May 16, check in will begin at 8:00 AM, with greetings beginning at 9:00 AM, and concluding at 4:30 PM. You must attend both days of the conference. There will be no credit for partial attendance; you cannot arrive late and/or leave early and still receive a certificate.

Registration Cost- There is no cost for this conference. The conference includes all instructional activities, continental breakfast, breaks, lunches, for both days of the conference and lodging for those who live 50 miles or more from the conference site.

Lodging- Tuesday (the night prior to the conference) and Wednesday night lodging will only be provided to attendees who live 50 miles or more from the conference site in compliance with Federal and State travel regulations. You must provide a map with miles of your travels if you are requesting lodging. Remember, you are REQUESTING lodging, when you register, it is not guaranteed. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SEND A MAP. If you do not get a confirmation specifically regarding your lodging, you are not confirmed for lodging or the conference.

It is very important to understand that if you were confirmed for lodging, that you in fact use it. We are charged for the costs of lodging even when you decide not to come, or come a day later. The cost of the room is charged to BHA/University of Maryland Training Center. You would agree this is wasteful and that we want to instead use the training dollars to provide as much training as possible to the peer recovery network so please let us know if you no longer need lodging for the dates requested by you.

Cancellation and No Show Policy- We understand event may arise in which you must cancel your registration and lodging. In this case, you must cancel your registration and lodging 48 hours prior to the event. Registration cancelled with less than 48 hour notification and no shows will be subject to a $50.00 cancellation/no show fee.

CEUs- At the conclusion of the conference, you will be awarded a certification which is recognized by the Maryland Addiction and Behavioral Health Professionals Certification Board (MABPCB). To receive a certificate, you must attend all of conference plenary sessions as well as workshops. No partial hours will be awarded. Certificates will not be mailed/emailed to individuals.

It has become a continuing conflict between conference participants and staff concerning providing certificates prior to the end of the conference. Please know that we cannot provide certificates to those who leave prior to the end of the conference. Life is unpredictable and often presents all of us with difficult choices. You may need to leave early, we do understand that, but please understand we also need to abide by the rules of the certification process. Please do not ask our staff to violate the agreement and obligations we have made to the Board, MABPCB.

Questions- If you have questions or to cancel your registration/lodging, please contact Adelaide Weber at Adelaide.weber@maryland .gov.
